Our story

Built from the work it took to get here

The Mood Ring holds the body of work it took me to get where I am: the reading, the unlearning, the practices that actually helped. It’s offered back to anyone who needs it.

I grew up learning what so many of us learned: be strong, hold it in, keep going. It worked, until it didn’t. Healing wasn’t one breakthrough. It was small practices, done again and again, and learning the words for things our families never had words for.

My gift is translation: taking psychology, history and research and turning them into language that lands. That’s what you’ll find here. No jargon, no performance, just the truth and something you can do with it today.

This is bigger than one person. The second half of my life is about making an impact for the next generation: to help lead mental health awareness in the Black community, and to help us heal, evolve and become self-sufficient. When one of us heals, it keeps giving back to all of us.

Welcome back to yourself.

What we believe

Healing can be easy

You can do the work and still live your life. Five minutes counts.

Rest is part of the plan

Rest is not a reward you earn after everything else is done.

Plain language heals

If it can’t be said simply, it isn’t ready to help anyone yet.

We heal together

When one of us heals, it reaches our families, our children and our communities.
